Doctor-Recommended GLPs at Castle Rock Regenerative Healthcare

Your Questions Answered: GLPs for Weight Loss

January is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and take the first steps toward achieving your health and weight loss goals. With the safe, proven support of GLPs, achieving your goals becomes more attainable. These innovative solutions not only help with weight loss but also support you as you build and maintain healthier habits for long-term success.

These two medications work best when they are incorporated into a well-balanced weight loss plan, including a healthy diet and prioritizing sustainable movement throughout the day. Dr. Scott™️ at Castle Rock Regenerative Health also understands every patient’s weight loss journey is unique, and each plan is tailored to each patient’s needs and goals.

Millions have experienced incredible weight loss success after incorporating GLPs into their routines. At Castle Rock Regenerative Healthcare, we source our compounds from a reputable pharmacy with impeccable quality standards, and we are proud to offer these injectable solutions. We’re also here to answer your questions about GLP #1 and GLP #2 for weight loss.

What are GLPs?

GLP #1 is the generic form of FDA-approved GLP-1 medication. Ozempic® and Wegovy® are brand names of GLP #1 that you may have seen in magazines or TV ads. GLP #2 is a slightly more novel medication that also works by acting on GLP-1 receptors but with an added GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) component. GLP #2 is also FDA-approved for weight loss treatments (Zepbound® and Mounjaro® are some name brands).

Both GLP #1 and GLP #2 were originally developed for diabetes management through weight loss. However, their use and success have proven effective for weight loss patients without diabetes.

How do GLPs work?

Both GLPs are administered as injections and have primary mechanisms as GLP-1 agonists. This means these medications promote feelings of fullness by mimicking the hormone that regulates hunger signals from the brain. This essentially acts as an appetite regulator, making portion control and healthy diet choices easier.

What are the differences between GLP #1 and GLP #2?

The major difference between GLP #1 and GLP #2 is that GLP #2 also acts as a GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). This added mechanism improves insulin sensitivity and insulin secretory responses. While this doesn’t directly translate to appetite loss like the GLP-1 agonist effect, it does help improve how the body uses food.

Do I have to come to the clinic each week for an injection?

No! While we would love to see you each week at our clinic, we can train you for home injection administration. These medications are injected on a weekly schedule.

What are the side effects?

Our patients tend to experience little to no side effects with GLP #1 or GLP #2. However, some side effects can include:

  •     Nausea
  •     Heartburn
  •     Headaches
  •     Constipation
  •     Diarrhea

These side effects are most common when first starting GLP #1 or GLP #2 injections or increasing dosages of these medications. They typically resolve after your body acclimates.

Are GLPs safe in the long term?

Both of these medications have demonstrated effectiveness for short and long-term weight loss plans. GLP #1 has been shown to be safe and effective for weight loss, even over a year of consistent use. GLP #2 has also demonstrated success over the long term. Newer studies cite even more benefits of these medications, reducing obesity-related disorders like sleep apnea and other metabolic dysfunctions
